{19-25 May 2013 | week 21}

28 May 2013

Hello again :)

This week I had planned a layout revolving around a school sporting event that was taken place at Culoz.  Unfortunately due to bad weather, this was cancelled :(

As this was turning out to be a quiet week I thought I would spend a little time recapping and recording the memories of 11 July 2012 when Stage 10 of the Tour de France visited Boirin.  This was an incredible day as we had been following the Tour since the start as the Englishman Bradley Wiggins riding for TeamSKY was tipped to be one of the favourites.  In June 2012 he had won the Criterium du Dauphine, the warm up event for the Tour de France and one of the stages came through Boirin.  The children were very excited because before the riders arrive, the Tour {caravan} visits.  This is where you get lots of free hats, sweets, keyrings and other goodies from the Tour sponsors. We spent the morning designing banners using old bedsheets and hung these on our barn door which faced the route.  I made one that read {Best of British ~ Go Bradley} with his mod emblem in the {O} of go.  We also chatted to a family visiting France from Australia.  They were following the Tour in a hired motorhome and were parked just outside our village.

The big mountain photographed on the top left photo space is Grand Colombier and it made its Tour debut in 2012.  It was classified as an {hors categorie} climb because in places it is incredibly steep and twisty.  So this week I included some of my favourite photos of Grand Colombier and a little creation about our day witnessing the Tour de France.  In all the excitement I did remember to photograph Wiggo !  I was given a {carnet de route} of the Tour and so I included the two pages detailing the route of Stage 10 and a map.  I also found a great little filler card from Persnickety Prints of an old bicycle and my journal card on the left side is from  Miss Tiina. I used a pocket page A for the left side ~

Onto the right side and there were new shoes and a new printer this week!  The journal card detailing the printer story is by Smitha Katti at smiling colors.  Again I have used Seafoam from Becky Higgins and teamed this with the weekly number card and light blue Chevron journal card from September Blue.  I have journalled about the weekly swimming lessons our children are having with the schools and used some {amy tangerine} thickers to spell out SWIM.  I used a pocket page D for the right side ~

Hope you enjoyed our week 21, see you next week :)
